The Story
Seriously, you still don’t know what’s happening?
Fill me in…
When we left off last week, Bedford was just at the beginning of dealing with the coronavirus outbreak. Schools have been shut down, businesses are closed, and you’re no doubt wondering how to keep up with it all. After all, we didn’t lie to you when we said in the last issue that the coronavirus is an evolving situation. From superintendent emails to government orders, here is everything that developed in the last week about COVID-19.
What’s going on?
As of March 22, there are 65 cases of coronavirus in New Hampshire, which is obviously a lot more than 7 days ago. Unfortunately, there are still 959 tests being processed, which means that the number of people infected is only going up from here. As for Bedford, there has only been one case confirmed. The town has opened up a coronavirus information webpage with updates, but that hasn’t been changed since March 17th. So, maybe get on that, town website people.
What about school?
Today, remote learning begins through Google Classroom. As of now, it will last (hopefully) two weeks. Since the initial remote learning guide was published, Mr. Jozokos has lovingly recommended we stick to a schedule throughout the duration of our online schooling. Thanks, Mr. Jozokos! We totally won’t wear pajamas all day, we promise.
Any other updates?
More bad news: IB and AP classes must stay on track in order to finish the class, so there will be no major curriculum modifications for remote learning. Also, long range assignments are still due on their regular due dates, without accommodating for our fun week off. Hope you’ve been keeping up with that paper!
And the worst of all:
Intersession is cancelled. Yes, for everyone. Even the at-school ones. Because of everything that’s happened, the administration has decided that we will be reverting the three days devoted to intersession back into regular school days. Everyone will be totally focused and not think about April break, right? Right?!?
The Runaway
Hang in there, Bulldogs. At least we still have April break.
What to Say…
When you can’t buy anything in social isolation…
Buy a gift card! Many small businesses have temporarily shut down because of the virus. This puts a significant financial strain on them, because obviously, our business is important to stay up and running. So support our local small businesses (and the local economy) by buying an online gift card that you can use after you’re quarantined.
Things to Know
As if things couldn’t get any worse…
Tom Brady is leaving the Patriots. Kind of bad timing if you ask us.
A little update…
New info! As of March 23, there are now 78 cases in New Hampshire. The health department just likes to keep us on our toes.
