The season saw three new school records set by the boys:

  • Lucien Mumpini – Long Jump (21’1″)

Meet 4: 1/12 – Phillips Exeter

Tough meet for us, as Phillips Exeter dominated.  Maybe they needed a break from their prep school league? BHS boys came in fifth overall while girls came in second. That could have had something to do with the fact that a lot of the boys team was in Hanover for a different meet.  Just saying. In the individual events, sophomore William Pagliarulo was the only athlete on the boys team to place. He came in third in the high jump, clearing 5’2″, behind Timberlane and Memorial athletes, who cleared 5’6″ and 5’4″, respectively.

Girls Results:
  • 55-meter dash: 2nd Ellie Flynn (7.88)
  • 300-meter dash: 3rd Fiona Gillis (46.92)
  • 1500-meter run: 3rd Lily Mooney (5:31.91)
  • 55-meter hurdles: 2nd Fiona Gillis (9.50); 3rd Gabbi Forte (9.84)
  • High Jump: 1st Lily Mooney (4’10”); 3rd Jori Santos (4’8″)
  • Long Jump: 1st Jori Santos (14’9.75″); 3rd Ellie Flynn (14’2″)

Meet 3: 1/6/2019 – UNH (Afternoon)

Great track meet at UNH. The girls won the afternoon, squeaking out a win over Pinkerton (84 points to the Astros’ 83) and decisively beating Keene, Hanover, Londonderry, Concord, Lebanon and Monadnock. The boys didn’t fare quite so well, coming in second to Pinkerton (51 points to their 100). On a side note, we’re a little freaked out that Zach Verow has had the exact same time in the 55-meter dash in all three meets.

  • 300-meter dash: 1st Zach Verow (37.04)

Preview:

Woohoo!! Running! Track isget thisalso expecting a good season. Last year, the boys finished third, and the girls finished fifth. Andwait for itthe team will face its biggest competition from Pinkerton and BG. The team expects to see great performances by juniors Ellie Flynn and Jori Santos and senior Lucien Mumpini (who didn’t get the memo that football players do basketball) in long jump, seniors Brianna CoCo and Gabbi Forte in hurdles, junior Hannah Mikol and senior Veronica Gikas in sprints, seniors Jess O’Brien and Aidan Kenney and junior Zach Verow in mid-distance, and senior Delaney Flanagan and sophomores Carly Rinko and Lexi Mahoney in distance. This is another sport that we really don’t look at thinking, “wow, wouldn’t that be fun?” And, we were pretty on TRACK. A lot of kids don’t really love the pain of running. However, almost 100 kids do this more or less voluntarily. Something’s not clicking there…
