Linda Camarota – Republican
Reason for victory: “Camarota” is a genus of fly in the family Chloropidae. We tried. We got nothing here. But apparently it doesn’t matter. We love her even if we cannot mock her (out of love! all of our mocking is out of love!).
And if you’re curious…
- Wants to shore up school safety strategies
- Wants to return education to local control
- Supports school vouchers
- Wants to train more staff to oversee Addict Recovery Support Groups
David Danielson – Republican
Reason for victory: Danielson sponsored a bill making hashish oil illegal. Unfortunately, it did not pass so it will remain a scourge of our community. He was most likely reelected to try again, as it is an issue that cannot be ignored.
And if you’re curious…
- Wants to give the Legislature more control over school funding
- Wants the discontinuation of statewide assessments based on Common Core standards
Linda Gould – Republican
Reason for victory: As a latin teacher, no one knows carpe diem better than her. Obviously, that constitutes a win.
And if you’re curious…
- Wants local control of taxes and education
- Against common core
- For school vouchers
John Graham – Republican
Reason for victory: His signature bill? He defined inhabitant vs. resident. Apparently, this is the type of thing that we need more of in our government. Next? He’s going to define road vs. street.
And if you’re curious…
- For charter schools
- For allocating tax revenue for private and homeschooling costs
- Wants to increase treatment for addiction`
Sue Mullen – Democrat
Reason for victory: She was inducted in Bedford School District’s hall of fame. Apparently, that’s the sort of thing you need to be the only Democrat elected in Bedford since 1935.
And if you’re curious…
- Believes that high standards, quality instruction, accountability, and community involvement should be cornerstones of all Bedford Schools
- Wants to expand services to defeat the Opioid Crisis
Laurie Sanborn – Republican
Reason for victory: Sanborn enjoys teaching local girl scouts about the State House and other political careers and places. She also loves delivering cookies to people’s doors. Those thin mints must’ve made quite the impression.
And if you’re curious…
- Against Common Core standards
- For allocating tax revenues for private and homeschooling costs
Michael Trento – Republican
Reason for victory: As a true environmentalist, Trento urged his supporters to take his signs down so that they would not be watered down or blown apart by winds and rain. And that’s probably why you’ve never heard of him. So, we have no freaking clue how he did it. We’re just in awe.
And if you’re curious…
- Supports measures to lower tuition costs and increased competition
- Wants to implement the highest rates of competency and accountability standards for our superintendent, teachers, and students
