The story

It’s April, so it makes you think about things.

Umm what?

We’ve just been reminiscing about the past. You know, those springs when kids took up stalking as a hobby and carried a water gun with them wherever they went. It really made their college applications stand out.

Explain

There’s always been a rumor that every year, the juniors play a water gun game called Assassin. Every partnership is assigned targets. If you “kill” your target, you take their target, and so forth until only one team remains. We don’t know much about its current happenings, or whether it still happens at all, but we’ve managed to track down it’s origin.

Hit me with it

The first graduating class of BHS started at the high school their sophomore year, so most of them had one year at Manchester West High School under their belts. Apparently, the game was played at West. The first BHS class started the game their senior year, including the juniors, since the high school was so small.

So West?

Yep! And apparently, they’re still playing. For them, it includes both juniors and seniors, since they have a smaller school. As far as their school administration, they know what’s happening, but aren’t trying to control it at all, just encouraging safety. But if you’re looking to blame someone, blame West. They corrupted the innocent Bedford kids.

Then what?

Then those sophomores followed suit during their junior year. But the players were still mixed; it was mostly juniors with some seniors. So, it took a few years for it to become a grade defined thing. And, it became fairly crazy-hiding in garages and driveways, following people to work, etc.

And the school was just okay with it?

Hard to say. Mr. Jozokos said that they always asked the students to tell them when they were playing so they could notify the community to be aware of it. But besides that, they didn’t have any control. Though, after the game started, it was immediately decided that the school campus and school events were off limits. We were told that they learned that it was probably not a good idea to bring anything that looks like a gun onto school property. That’s the sort of intellect that put BHS on the path to being one of the top high schools in the state.

The Runaway

The whole thing seems like a less torturous Cardigan. They found a way to bond as a grade while still having actual showers and bathrooms. We’re telling you-true wisdom!

What to say…

When you’re fully invested in this season of Survivor

Try watching tennis-it’s basically the same thing. Both the boys and girls tennis teams won last Friday, or should we say destroyed. Every single player won their match, and each doubles team won as well. And you know what this means? The top six players for each team have been decided (and can be found on our spring sports guide)…for now. Because we all know that things can change throughout the season. Who’s excited? You getting the Survivor vibe? We think this might be our favorite sport now, and not because it’s interesting to watch.
